Adaptol

Indications Adaptol.
Adaptol is used:
- to normalize psychosomatic disorders of various etiologies, relieve anxiety and reduce emotional tension in cases of severe neuroses, stress and depression;
- to correct inappropriate behavior in psychoses and schizophrenia;
- to relieve heart pain not associated with cardiovascular pathologies;
- to reduce vegetative symptoms during menopause and PMS;
- for the treatment of patients with paroxysms after closed craniocerebral injuries;
Adaptol is also used in the treatment of alcoholism during the remission stage and to relieve the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal in those quitting smoking.
Release form
The drug is available in the form of tablets of 300 and 500 mg.
Pharmacodynamics
The pharmacological action of Adaptol is provided by the active substance tetramethyl-tetraazobicyclooctanedione (a bicyclic derivative of urea), which acts as an activator of the serotonin precursor amino acid tryptophan, increasing the intensity of the process of converting tryptophan into serotonin in serotonergic neurons. A dosed increase in serotonin has a regulating effect on increased psychoemotional reactions.
At the same time, the drug Adaptol exhibits properties of a blocker of adrenergic neurons of postsynaptic membranes of the peripheral nervous system. Due to this, inhibition of excitatory cellular neurotransmitters increases.
In addition, Adaptol promotes increased myocardial contractions and increases cardiac output, thereby accelerating coronary blood flow and increasing blood oxygen saturation.
Pharmacokinetics
After entering the body, approximately 40% of the active substance Adaptol binds to red blood cells, the rest circulates in the bloodstream in a free form and can penetrate through cell membranes. The bioavailability of the drug is about 80%.
The maximum concentration in the blood serum is achieved 25-30 minutes after oral administration of the drug, the duration of the therapeutic effect is up to 4 hours.
The active substance does not undergo transformation and does not accumulate. The drug Adaptol is completely eliminated from the body with urine within 24 hours.
Dosing and administration
Adaptol tablets are taken orally. The standard single dose is 300 mg (1 tablet). It is prescribed to take one tablet 2-3 times a day (regardless of food intake).
The maximum daily dose is 10 g, the maximum duration of use of the drug is 3 months.
To relieve symptoms of nicotine withdrawal, a single dose is 0.6-0.9 g, the drug is taken three times a day, the course of treatment is 1.5 months.
Use Adaptol. during pregnancy
Contraindicated.
Contraindications
Contraindications to the use of this drug are: individual hypersensitivity to the components included in its composition, as well as children under 10 years of age.
Since relevant clinical studies related to the use of the drug in the treatment of pregnant and lactating women have not been conducted, the use of Adaptol during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Side effects Adaptol.
Possible side effects of Adaptol include:
- allergic reactions;
- dyspeptic disorders (nausea, intestinal disorders);
- decrease in body temperature and blood pressure.
Overdose
Overdose of this drug leads to increased manifestation of side effects. In case of overdose, gastric lavage should be performed.

Storage conditions for Adaptol: out of reach of children, at a temperature of +18-25°C.
Shelf life
Shelf life: 4 years.
