Adrianol is a vasoconstrictor drug used in ENT practice as a topical agent.

Indications Adrianol

Indications for its use are:

  • acute rhinitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • chronic rhinitis (for short-term treatment);
  • preparation for diagnostic procedures with an otolaryngologist;
  • preparation for otolaryngological operations.

Release form

It is produced in the form of nasal drops. One package contains a special dropper bottle with a volume of 10 ml.

Pharmacodynamics

The medicine contains trimazoline with phenylephrine, which have vasoconstrictor properties - it is due to the ability to constrict blood vessels that the medicine reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa. This allows you to normalize breathing through the nose and reduce pressure in the middle ear and sinuses. The dosage form has a viscous consistency, as a result of which the nasal mucosa has a prolonged effect.

Dosing and administration

Children's drops for children over 3 years old should be instilled three times a day, 2 drops in each nostril.

For children over 7 years of age and adults, drops are instilled 4 times a day, 1-3 drops in each nostril.

The duration of use of the medicine should be a maximum of 7 days, after which a break of several days is required.

Use Adrianol during pregnancy

There have been no safety tests for using Adrianola during pregnancy, so it is not recommended to use the medicine during this period.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

  • pheochromocytoma;
  • individual intolerance to phenylephrine, trimazoline, and excipients;
  • glaucoma;
  • IHD;
  • high blood pressure;
  • thyrotoxicosis;
  • severe form of renal pathology;
  • atrophic form of rhinitis;
  • atherosclerosis.

Side effects Adrianol

The following side effects may occur as a result of using the drops:

  • local: pain, burning or dryness in the nasal mucosa, as well as its swelling. In addition, profuse nasal discharge and taste disturbances are possible;
  • systemic: the appearance of headaches and dizziness, as well as nausea, increased blood pressure, development of tachycardia and allergies;
  • Long-term use may result in nasal congestion, runny nose, and atrophy of the nasal mucosa.

Overdose

Symptoms of drug overdose include: rapid fatigue, nausea or dizziness, increased blood pressure, insomnia or fever, development of tachycardia or reflex bradycardia.

Interactions with other drugs

When combined with MAO inhibitors or antidepressants, the risk of increased blood pressure may increase.

Storage conditions

The medicine must be kept in standard conditions for medicinal products - a place closed from the sun and moisture, and inaccessible to children. Temperature indicators - no more than 25 ° C.

Shelf life

Adrianol is permitted to be used for 3 years from the date of manufacture of the medicine.
