Amniography

Amniography is a radiological examination method that has the following advantages over conventional radiological methods: it is possible to diagnose soft tissue pathology, some gastrointestinal tract defects and skeletal pathology.

Before performing amniography, it is necessary to find out whether the pregnant woman can tolerate iodine preparations and conduct a sensitivity test to the contrast agent that will be injected into the amniotic sac. The most widely used is hypaque (75%), which is injected slowly over 1 minute in an amount of 0.5 ml. The examination can begin after 15 minutes.

A method of amniography in emergency situations in obstetric practice using verografin has been developed.
