Cheekbone

Zygomatic bone(os zygomaticum) paired, connects the frontal, temporal and maxillary bones, strengthening the facial skull. The zygomatic bone has lateral, temporal and orbital surfaces.

The lateral surface faces forward and laterally and contains a small zygomaticofacial foramen (foramen zygomaticofaciale).

The temporal surface forms the anterior wall of the infratemporal fossa and has a small zygomaticotemporal foramen (foramen zygomaticotemporale).

On the orbital surface, which forms the lower lateral wall of the orbit, there is also a small zygomaticoorbital foramen (foramen zygomaucoorbitale).

The temporal process (processus temporalis), directed downwards, together with the zygomatic process of the temporal bone forms the zygomatic arch (arcus zygomaticus).

The frontal process (processus frontalis) goes upward and connects with the zygomatic process of the frontal bone and the greater wing of the sphenoid bone.
