Peppermint pills
Peppermint tablets belong to the pharmacological group of antiemetic and antispasmodic agents that have choleretic and sedative effects.
The therapeutically active substance of this drug is peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperíta).

Pharmacodynamics
Pharmacodynamics is based on the action of mint essential oil, which contains menthol, menthol esters (with acids - acetic and valerianic) and terpenoids (pinene, limonene, phellandrene, cineole, citral, etc.).
By irritating the nerve endings of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, esophagus and stomach, these substances have a slight local anesthetic effect. At the same time, this increases intestinal peristalsis. The increase in bile production and a slight choleretic effect that Mint tablets give is explained by the presence of polyphenols in the essential oil of mint.
In addition, menthol reflexively constricts superficial vessels by stimulating the cold receptors of the mucous membrane, regulating their tone. This, in turn, promotes venous blood outflow. Being a natural antiseptic, this essential oil acts as an antimicrobial and astringent.

The pharmacokinetics of mint tablets, that is, the processes of absorption, distribution, transformation and elimination from the body, are not covered in the official instructions.

Use Peppermint pills during pregnancy
There is no information in the instructions regarding the use of Peppermint tablets during pregnancy. Although peppermint contains phytosterol - beta-sitosterol, which increases the level of testosterone in the blood and reduces the absorption of cholesterol. Therefore, the use of Peppermint tablets during pregnancy can lead to undesirable consequences.
Contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Mint tablets include increased individual sensitivity to essential oil of mint and early childhood. Since the tablets contain sugar, their use requires caution in the presence of diabetes. Continuous use of Mint tablets is not recommended for low blood pressure.
Side effects Peppermint pills
Side effects Mint tablets may manifest themselves in the form of allergic reactions. Frequent and uncontrolled use of these tablets can lead to irritation of the respiratory tract.

The shelf life is 2 years.
