Restasis
Restasis helps protect and moisturize the cornea. Its active ingredient is cyclosporine, which has an immunosuppressive effect that develops after systemic use.
When suppressing tear production processes in individuals with keratoconjunctivitis, local use of drops causes the development of immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activity. [ 1 ]
After using the drug, the cyclosporine level for local administration in an adult in the recommended dose always remains within certain limits. [ 2 ]
Indications Restasis
It is used to reduce the volume of tears produced in the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis.
Release form
The release of the therapeutic element is realized in the form of eye drops, which are packaged in 1-dose bottles.
Dosing and administration
Drops are used for local treatment. Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to turn the medicinal bottle over several times - until an opaque white emulsion of a homogeneous nature is obtained. 1 drop of emulsion must be instilled into each conjunctival sac (2 times a day, observing a certain time interval).
- Application for children
Not for use by persons under 18 years of age.
Use Restasis during pregnancy
Restasis should not be prescribed during pregnancy.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- infections in the eye area that are active;
- breastfeeding period;
- intolerance to a medicinal product.
- Caution is required when using the drug in individuals with keratitis of a herpetic nature.
Side effects Restasis
The use of drops often causes a burning sensation in the eye area. In addition, itching, irritation, pain, conjunctival hyperemia, discomfort and discharge from the eyes, as well as photophobia, headaches, blurred vision and dry eyes may occur.
Sometimes hyperemia and swelling in the eyelid area, keratitis accompanied by the appearance of ulcers, nausea, dizziness, epidermal rash and increased lacrimation are observed.
Storage conditions
Restasis is stored in a place closed to small children under standard conditions and temperatures for pharmaceutical products.
Shelf life
Restasis can be used for a period of 24 months from the date of sale of the therapeutic substance.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug are Cyclosporine, Orgasporin and Sandoz with Consupren, as well as Ecoral.

Restasis is rarely mentioned in reviews on various medical forums. It is mainly discussed in the context of determining its therapeutic activity, duration of drug use and duration of the effect.
People who have used the medication note that it has a high medicinal effect - therapy with Restasis can significantly reduce lacrimation, as well as relieve the symptoms of inflammation.
But in addition to this, there are also comments from people who experienced irritation and pain in the eye area after using the drops. It should be noted that these negative effects gradually disappeared without stopping the medication.
